God has prepared a place for us.

Galatians 6:14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.

In 2006 we heard the news that a Christian employee of an airline at Heathrow Airport, was sacked because she refused to hide the cross she wore around her neck. She was a Christian sister of ours from Egypt, and we learnt that Egyptian Christians always show the cross, and many have a cross tattooed on their wrist where it can clearly be seen.

As it says in our text the world has been crucified to us and we know what the Bible teaches us about the world: 1John 5:15 That the evil one rules this world. We as Christians are born again and no longer belonging to this world, but now we are citizens of heaven, and as such should be heavenly minded, and not worldly minded.

This is what it says about the people of faith in Hebrews 11:13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

Let us acknowledge that we are people of the cross, the world holds no attraction for us because we are citizens of heaven where God has prepared a place for us.

Prayer: Thank you Heavenly Father for loving us and saving us through your Son our Saviour and freeing us from the clutches of Satan. Thank you that you have a place prepared for us and we are already citizens of heaven. May your will be done, and your kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Jesus said; "The Kingdom of God is within you."

Luke 17:20-21 He answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

The word Kingdom of God refers to God's ruling our lives, and if you and I have turned from our sin and received Lord Jesus into our life as our Saviour, then we accept His rule in our lives. That means we accept all his instructions provided in the gospels for His disciples.

We, who are walking with God, are the kingdom of God's people. We are modern day revolutionaries because we have to be so different to everyone else. We are those who love our enemies and those who bless those who curse us, because we are Kingdom of God people. We know that this life is not a bed of roses because our Lord has told us in Matthew 7:13-14 that it is a strait and narrow way.

Yes, we are those who have left the broad way, and are on the narrow way which at times is difficult, but we are going to heaven. We are blessed every morning, because we are the Kingdom of God people. In a world that is always changing, it is nice to have an anchor that does not change. When we come to the Lord Jesus Christ, we never have to worry that He will change. What He expects of us today is what He will expect of us tomorrow. We must always remember that His will must be done.

Prayer: Thank you Lord Jesus that we are yours, because you have bought us with a great price, worth more than all the riches in this world, so that your will be done by us, your kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven. Through your precious name. Amen.

Because they have Spring in their hearts, they find flowers and songs everywhere.

SPRING IN THE HEART
"The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose."-- Isa_35:1.

THERE ARE three things that make Springtide in the soul. The sense of God's Presence. We know that He is near, though the woods are bare, the frost holds the earth in its iron grip, and the wind gathers together the dead leaves; but we feel Him nearer when every hedgerow is clothed with flowers, every bush burns with fire, every tree claps its leafy hands, and every avenue is filled with sweet choristers. The optimism of an illimitable hope. Spring is the minstrel of Hope. She takes her lyre and sings of the fair Summer, which is on her way, Life pours through a myriad channels, and shows itself stronger than death for Spring is victorious over Winter, as good shall prove to be over evil. The exuberance of Love. Spring is the time of love. The whole creation is attracted by a natural affinity, and love rules in forest and field.
These three elements met in the hearts of the returning exiles, and made the world seem young and fair again. The heart views the outer world in lines borrowed from itself. When life is young and gay, all the echoes ring with joy notes; but when the joy of life is fled, what mockery comes back on us from even the tenderest outward scenes!
For us, the lesson is clear. Cherish the sense of the Presence of God; cultivate an illimitable Hope; be conscious of a Love flowing towards you and from you. Dwell on the loving-kindness and tender mercy that have preceded and followed you all the days of your life, and for you, too, the wilderness and solitary place will be glad. After all, life is not altogether what circumstances make it. They may be everything that heart can wish, and yet the Frost-King may reign within and ease its icy mantle over all; whereas there are men and women who have everything adverse in their circumstances, but because they have Spring in their hearts, they find flowers and songs everywhere.
The thirsty land shall become springs of water. You know what thirst means--for human affection, for appreciation, for a word of cheer, for success! Yea, that thirsty land! But when your heart is full of God you will find it musical with streams, and in the places where dragons lay there will be a greenery of rushes.

PRAYER
Lord Jesus, bring us back from our captivity. Fill our hearts with the sense of Thy presence that they may be transformed and renewed, and filled with the spirit of Heaven. AMEN.

HIS OWN SPECIAL PEOPLE

1Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.

Could you repeat this verse over and over until you sense the Holy Spirit coming upon you as it did me when I said it once like this: I am of a chosen generation, a member of God’s royal priesthood, part of a holy nation of believers. His own special people. I will proclaim the praises of Him who called me out of darkness into His marvelous light.

I am determined not to forget this verse and remind myself what it is saying to me. I have written it in my Bible. I have already discovered it is a great blessing to me as I am being consecrated by God, that is set apart and dedicated to the service of God. The words we speak have to be more effective for God. The love of God in us has to break down barriers so that people are set free from the forces of darkness.

We have the promise of God that if we abide in Lord Jesus and His words abide in us, we will ask what we desire, and Lord Jesus promised it would be granted. John 15:7. With our bodies as living sacrifices, and being the temple of the Holy Spirit, then we have access to the power of God to be used to glorify His name. We are walking in obedience to His teaching and showing the fruit of the Holy Spirit as we abide in Christ.

Prayer: Thank you are loving Heavenly father for choosing us for this time and making us part of a nation of believers that your will be done, your kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Remember Lot's wife.

Luke 17:32-33 Remember Lot's wife.

Do you remember what happened to the wife of Lot? When the family of Lot were escaping from Sodom, they were told by the angels of God that they were not to look back. Lot’s wife disobeyed, and was turned into a pillar of salt.

When our God (and loving heavenly Father) gives us an instruction, it is for our benefit, and by obeying that instruction, we are showing our love for God. John 14:23. What our Lord expects is our love shown by our actions. Our God has shown how much He loves us by what He did at Calvary and our response has to be our obedience to every commandment He has given us.

Now consider the circumstances when our text was spoken. Our Lord had been telling the Pharisees that the destruction of Jerusalem as predicted in Daniel 11:45, was going to happen, and at that time it will be just like Sodom and Gomorrah, where people were eating and sleeping and getting married. He said they were to drop everything and flee instantly, and they were not to hesitate and look back, because that is what Lots wife did.

Our Lord went on to say if we want to save our life we will lose it. If we want to hang on to our sinful past life, then we will lose our new life with God. If we give our lives as sacrifices to God, then we will get a new life and the will of God for us will be revealed. Let us not look back with eyes of longing to our sinful past, but instead keep our eyes on the cross.

Prayer: Thank you loving Heavenly Father for reminding us again about not looking back, that your will be done, your kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
